Biography

A passionate performer, Bonnie is a singer, song writer, guitarist and violinist. Growing up with a musical family in Willunga (a small country town an hour south of Adelaide), Bonnie was brought up on Folk Festivals and jam nights. A bit of a nomad, Bonnie lived in Byron Bay before making Sydney her home.

Her debut single ‘Boots’ reached #2 on the itunes Country Music Charts and #32 on all genres. Working with Aria award winning producer, Govinda Doyle (Big Jet Plane – Angus & Julia Stone), 2022 is set to be an exciting year for Bonnie, with the release of her debut album, ‘Hidden Spirit.’

Particularly inspired by singer/songwriters Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, Shania Twain and Amy Shark, Bonnie’s lyrics are raw and authentic with a pinch of attitude and wit. With skills in looping, Bonnie also draws creativity from musicians such as Ed Sheeran to incorporate her violin into her live solo performances.

Australian Country Music Icon and mentor, Gina Jeffreys, said – “I was lucky enough to see Bonnie Kellett perform live and I was absolutely blown away! Bonnie is a brilliant guitarist, fiddle player and looper! She is a master entertainer with a powerhouse vocal and entertains in a way like nobody else we’ve seen here in Australia. I think Bonnie Kellett is destined for a big future in Country Music Australia.”

Bonnie holds a Bachelor of Music from the Australian Institute of Music and an Advanced Dip. In Performing Arts Acting from Actors Centre Australia. She is a recipient of a ‘Mo Award’ and her performance credits include Groundwater Country Music Festival, Charters Towers Country Music Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Sydney Opera House (alongside Jon English), The Sydney Entertainment Centre and overseas at The Douglas Corner Café in Nashville.

Recently, Bonnie has hit the road with Amber Lawrence on her ‘Living For The Highlights’ tour across Australia as both an opener and band member.

In 2020, Bonnie’s trip to Tamworth Country Music Festival included performing as part of the opening acts for Lee Kernaghan at The Regional Entertainment Centre.

Handpicked by Kasey Chambers, Bonnie was asked to play violin for a performance with Kasey at The Dart & Feather. This was closely followed up by a guest performance spot with Bill Chambers at The Tamworth Country Music Festival.

With an endorsement from QSC, Bonnie has performed her originals as part of their online Touchmix Sessions. She has also performed looping videos for Boss/Roland Australia and in 2021 performed her original song ‘Dancing Barefoot’ live on Channel 7’s ‘Sunrise.’

Continuously writing, Bonnie can’t wait to release her upcoming debut album early in 2023.
