Devil, the third single from South Australian born, Sydney-based country artist, Bonnie Kellett, is now available for airplay and pre-order/add/save, and out on September 9 through indie country label, RTC Records.

An autobiographical country rockin’ track (it rocks hard!) about finding a positive outcome to a negative situation, Devil, written and performed (vocals and violin) by Kellett, was produced by ARIA award-winning producer, Govinda Doyle, on the Gold Coast.

“The best songs come from broken hearts,” says Kellett. “I started song writing and felt like I found my voice and I found it in country music, which felt like a reconnection with my late father, who loved attending country and folk music festivals with the family.”

Devil was the first song Kellett wrote completely on her own, inspired partly by someone in her love life. She explains, “I had gone to Melbourne for a week of song writing with a friend. On the drive back to Sydney, I kept hearing the lyrics ‘dark eyes and devilish grin, dragging me into a world of sin’ and that was it. I pulled over and wrote them down in my phone and there they sat for about six months. Then, out of nowhere, one evening I started to hear the beginning of the song in my head. I pulled out a pen and began to write…the whole song fell out of me in around an hour.”

Lyrics

VERSE

TROUBLE IS A WORD I CAN'T EVEN USE TO DESCRIBE YOU

CAUSE MY LOVE WAS THE KIND THAT YOU COULD SINK YOUR TEETH INTO

BUT I'M PAST THAT NOW,

DON'T ASK ME HOW

CAUSE I'M TELLING YOU WE'RE THROUGH

YES, I'M TELLING YOU WE'RE THROUGH

CHORUS

WITH YOUR DARK EYES AND DEVILISH GRIN

DRAGGING ME INTO A WORLD OF SIN

SHOWING ME THINGS I COULD NOT BEGIN TO BELIEVE IN

BUT YOUR FIRE BURNT OUT

YOU WERE CAUGHT OUT

AND I'M SICK OF PEOPLE LETTING ME DOWN

YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT BUT I WON THE WAR

VERSE

IT'S TOO LATE NOW TO TELL ME THAT YOU'RE SORRY

THE BRIDGES YOU BURNT HAVE GOT YOU SCARED AND WORRIED

YOU TOLD ME YOUR LOVE WAS FROM UP ABOVE

AND YOU NEED ME NOW TONIGHT

BUT I WON'T BE YOURS TONIGHT

CHORUS

WITH YOUR DARK EYES AND DEVILISH GRIN

DRAGGING ME INTO A WORLD OF SIN

SHOWING ME THINGS I COULD NOT BEGIN TO BELIEVE IN

BUT YOUR FIRE BURNT OUT

YOU WERE CAUGHT OUT

AND I'M SICK OF PEOPLE LETTING ME DOWN

YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT BUT I WON THE WAR

BRIDGE

NOW I'M LEFT HERE WONDERING

WHAT IT IS YOU THOUGHT YOU'D BRING

TO A LOVE AND LIFE LIKE THIS

I’LL GIVE YOU ONE LAST KISS

FOR ALL THE THINGS YOU COULD HAVE BEEN

WHAT IT IS YOU THOUGHT YOU'D WIN

TELLING ALL THOSE LIES

THIS IS MY LAST GOODBYE

CHORUS

WITH YOUR DARK EYES AND DEVILISH GRIN

DRAGGING ME INTO A WORLD OF SIN

SHOWING ME THINGS I COULD NOT BEGIN TO BELIEVE IN

BUT YOUR FIRE BURNT OUT

YOU WERE CAUGHT OUT

AND I'M SICK OF PEOPLE LETTING ME DOWN

YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT BUT I WON THE WAR

POST CHORUS

WITH YOUR DARK EYES AND DEVILISH GRIN

DRAGGING ME INTO A WORLD OF SIN

SHOWING ME THINGS I COULD NOT BEGIN TO BELIEVE IN

CAUSE YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT BUT I WON THE WAR

CAUSE YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT BUT I WON THE WAR

YOU MAY HAVE WON THE FIGHT

BUT I WON THE WAR
